A few weeks ago, Microsoft published a store listing for a refurbished Core i5 variant of the Surface Pro, discounted by $170. Now however, there's a new Core i5 SKU that's seeing a price reduction, this time around including a Type Cover.
The device in question is the Core i5 / 8GB RAM / 128GB SSD model, which was introduced at the beginning of May to replace its 4GB RAM-equipped predecessor, at the same price point: $999. As can be seen, the offer above bundles both the Pro and a Platinum Signature Type Cover for $799. Folks familiar with the Surface lineup will recognize the color of the cover as one of four which are also available for the Surface Laptop.
Another point of interest here is that the pricing of the bundle matches that of a standalone Intel Core m3 / 128GB SSD / 4GB RAM Surface Pro, thus making the entry-level model a lot less attractive.
This discount runs until September 15, 2018 at 11:59pm PST, and is available in the Microsoft online and retail store in the U.S. (including Puerto Rico). Only the combination shown in the image above is eligible for this discount, so if you were looking to get a different color of Type Cover, you're out of luck. Much like the previous Surface Pro price cut, you can add a 1-year Office 365 Home or Personal subscription to your cart, which knocks $20 off said subscription.
