Microsoft makes Office 365 and Dynamics 365 available from German datacenter regions

Over the past few months, Microsoft has been investing significantly in making its cloud-based services available from a multitude of new regions, including Switzerland, Germany, and more recently, Israel. Back in September, Microsoft made Azure available from the cloud regions in Germany, and now, those datacenters are also supporting Dynamics 365 and Office 365.

As usual, the goal with these local cloud datacenter regions is to help businesses comply with regulations and requirements, particularly those revolving around customer data residency. This is especially important for companies that work, for example, in financial services, or those in the public sector. Some of the companies taking advantage of this local availability of the cloud services include Deutsche Bank, SAP, and Rohde & Schwarz.

Office 365 includes a wide variety of enterprise-oriented tools that are now available from the German cloud regions, including Teams, Exchange, SharePoint, and OneDrive for Business. As for Dynamics 365, tools including Dynamics 365 Customer Insights, Field Service, Sales, and Project Service Automation, are now available for first customers, and Microsoft will continue to expand the availability to more customers in the coming months. After that, Power BI, Power Automate, Dynamics 365 for Finance, and Supply Chain Management will also be available from the new region.

Microsoft also said that it plans to continue the expansion of its cloud services to more regions this year, particularly by bringing Office 365 and Dynamics 365 services to the cloud regions in Norway.
