Microsoft makes use of "People Powered Stories" with new advertising platform

It was not long ago that Microsoft was awarded a trademark for “People Powered Stories” and today, we find out how Microsoft intends to use that trademark; a new advertising platform.

Microsoft is launching the new platform and it’s got a little bit, ok a lot, of social built in to the advertisements. The name of the new platform is “People Powered Stories” which as the name implies, will allow you to incorporate “'real peoples’ ratings and reviews about their products within a rich brand ad” according to the post by Microsoft.

To make all of this possible, Microsoft has teamed up with Bazaarvoice, a company that has been involved in more than 290 billion conversations across the globe based around brands. The addition of Bazaarvoice will allow Microsoft to include these conversations in to their marketing efforts to create a more socially engaged advertisement; the product will be officially launched next month.

It’s not a hard connection to make that Microsoft wants the advertisements to feel more genuine, offer outside information from a peer and hopefully engage its targeted audience more naturally. With the inclusion of reviews directly in to the campaigns, it opens up another avenue for marketers to try and connect with the general audience.

Thanks for the tip Mel!
