Microsoft: Office 2010 sells a copy every second

Microsoft announced this week that Office 2010 sells a copy every second. The highly successful document processing and formatting suite has managed to become a fast seller, much like Windows 7 has.

Microsoft reported on their Office Blog that over 30 million people currently use Office Web Apps to view, edit, and share Office documents with friends, family, and co-workers. The Office Web Apps work anywhere around the world, and without the need for Office 2010 to be installed on your computer. Office Web Apps offers users a web-based version of Word, Excel and PowerPoint for free.

Microsoft announced that Office 2010 is now ranked the fast-selling consumer version of Office in history. Office now joins the ranks of Windows 7, which has also become the fast-selling consumer version of Windows in history.

Microsoft also noted that this is the 8th year in a row that Office was the number one selling software in the U.S., measured by dollar volume, Office outpaces games and security software.

Microsoft Office 2010 launched last year around the world, providing users with a stylish new UI, cross application ribbon support, and many other advantages to document processing.
