Microsoft releases new 60 second IE9 TV advert

Around four months ago, Microsoft released a TV advert showing off the capabilities of Internet Explorer 9. Back then the emphasis was largely on graphically rich HTML5 web sites and experiences, including the free version of the game Cut the Rope which Microsoft launched for IE 9 in January.

This time around, Microsoft has released a new 60 second TV ad exclusively to Facebook; and unlike the previous ad which was first presented on the IEBlog there isn't much details to go on other than the video itself, which we've embedded below.

Like the previous IE9 ad, the new one still uses the song "Too Close" by UK-based singer Alex Clare, which was first released in April 2011 as the single single to his debut album, but then gained international recognition in May this year after Microsoft selected it for use, reaching number 48 on the billboard top 100 and number four in the UK.

One Neowin member also points out:

The new ad first shows the websites running inside of Internet Explorer, and then "dives in" to the website itself, as opposed to the older ad (below) which just showed the site, without including the IE9 chrome anywhere. It also features a darker background for the ending flip through of IE9-enabled sites.

There is also added emphasis on Facebook and Twitter integration that might sway some users back to IE9.

One thing that hasn't changed is their "a more beautiful web" slogan, but as IE10 draws nearer, one has to wonder what their strategy for that will be since it will be both the desktop and Metro versions that will become available later this year with Windows 8.
