Microsoft releases Windows 10 build 18898 to the Fast ring - here's what's new

It's Wednesday, and as is typically the case, that means that there's a new Windows 10 Insider Preview build available in the Fast ring. Today's build is number 18898, and it's from the 20H1 development branch.

Remember, this is a feature update that won't be released until next spring. If you're looking for 19H2 previews, those aren't out yet, although they will be soon. That will likely be a pretty minor, while there will be more significant features in 20H1.

As far as new features go, build 18898 once again doesn't have much. You can now see the disk type in the Performance tab in the Task Manager. Here's the full changelog:

Disk type now visible in Task Manager Performance tab

A small, but perhaps convenient change — you’ll now be able to see the disk type (e.g. SSD) for each disk listed in Task Manager’s performance tab. This is particularly helpful in cases where you have multiple disks listed, so you can differentiate between them.

Being that this is an update that is still probably a full year away, there will be plenty more features to come over that period. For now, it seems that Microsoft is just adding some minor things here and there.
