Microsoft reportedly working on a metallic, mid-range phone for early next year

With the impending release of Windows 10 Mobile, Microsoft is finally getting its mobile strategy in order, with an increased emphasis on synergy between its mobile and desktop operating systems and a rejuvenated interest in devices. After conceding that their device offerings in the mobile department had been lackluster as of late, Microsoft is looking to make a big push this fall, with at least two flagships to be announced in four days.

That's not all Microsoft is working on, though. Recent leaks already point to the Lumia 550 being prepped for launch in the lower end, and according to a new report, Microsoft is also allegedly working a mid-range smartphone.

The phone is expected to have a staggered release in the Spring timeframe a few months after the launch of the Lumia 950 and 950 XL. While not as posh as Microsoft's flagships, the device will still feature a metallic body but will offer mid-range specs.

It has been over a year since the initial release of the Lumia 830, and this device might be a successor to it. Unfortunately, not much else is known about the phone at this point - or whether it is, indeed, even a confirmed product so we'll have to wait and see.
