Microsoft has announced a series of improvements to Microsoft Graph's capabilities, including new search features for organizations. First off, the company announced new capabilities for the Windows search bar, which lives next to the Start menu. In addition to results from the web, the search bar will soon be able to pull results from enterprise tools like Salesforce, Dynamics 365, and more, thanks to Microsoft Graph connectors available to developers.
That's not all, though, as Microsoft also announced Microsoft Search Federation, a new and more unified search tool for businesses. Microsoft says organizations often use different search tools like Microsoft Search or Azure Cognitive Search, and Search Federation aims to bring those systems together to make the experience more seamless.
There's a lot more new for Microsoft Graph, like new capabilities for connectors. It will soon be possible to add employee information to their profiles from new sources, new Jira and Confluence connectors are planned for this summer, and Microsoft Graph connector data will also soon be available in Teams and Windows. eDiscovery support for Graph connectors is also planned for this summer, so data from these connectors can be found using the same tools available for Microsoft 365. Microsoft also announced that Microsoft Graph data connect is now available on Azure as a metered service, so developers only pay for the data they use instead of a per-user/per-month payment.
Finally, Microsoft announced a new tool called Organization Explorer, a new embedded app for Outlook. This will allows employees in an organization to more easily find and connect with other employees with similar skill sets to collaborate on specific projects. This will be available this summer.
