Microsoft Store rumored to be planned for Australia

There has certainly been a lot of activity on the Microsoft Store news front lately. We have reported unofficial news that Microsoft plans to open new store locations in Canada and the UK in the future. Now there is yet another report that claims a Microsoft Store location could be opening Down Under.

The website WPDownunder.com reports, "Thanks to an anonymous tipster – the unofficial word from MS Australia connections is that there WILL be a flagship Sydney store launched before the end of 2013."

Obviously, if this report is indeed correct, that means it may take a while, perhaps over a year, before Sydney's Microsoft Store location is ready for the public; Microsoft has yet to confirm any of these reports.

So far, Microsoft has opened 19 retail store locations, all in the continental US. The company just opened the latest store in Danbury, Connecticut. Microsoft has announced it will open at least seven more stores, including a location in Puerto Rico. However, the current pace of store launches is still not keeping up with Microsoft's previous announcement in July 2011 that it would open as many as 75 new stores in the next two to three years.
