Microsoft Surface Pro TV ad showing Friday night during NYC launch event

A few days ago, it was confirmed that Microsoft would launch a new TV ad for the release of the Surface Pro tablet on Sunday as part of the Gammy Awards telecast. Now it looks like the folks who pop up at Microsoft's launch party for the Surface Pro will get an advanced look at that commercial.

In a post on his Twitter account, the leader of the Surface team, Panos Panay, states:

As with the first TV commercial for the Surface RT tablet, the ad for the Surface Pro was directed by Jon M. Chu, who also directed the upcoming G.I. Joe Retaliation feature film. In a Twitter post that responded to Panay's post, Chu said that he would also be attending the launch event for the Surface Pro.

If you are in the NYC area on Friday night, you can head over to the Best Buy store on Union Square for the public Surface Pro launch, which will be preceded by a private invite only launch reception. As we have reported before, Microsoft will not be taking any pre-orders for the Surface Pro ahead of Saturday, February 9th. However, you can go ahead and get some hands-on time with the tablet at some retail store locations.
