Microsoft updates Xbox app for Windows 10, Game DVR comes to the PC

Microsoft has released an update for the Xbox app and it brings with several new features that were shown off earlier this year. Interestingly, Microsoft says that to use all the features, you need Windows 10 build 10061, which has not been released.

Likely the most highly anticipated feature in this update is the Game DVR for PC games. This feature lets you record clips from your games and share them with your friends. To launch this feature, you hit the Windows key + G and it will open up the Game Bar that gives you several options for recording historical gameplay. Likewise, screenshots have now been integrated into the app as well.

The Xbox tile on Windows 10 has been updated and will now show your gamerpic and will alert you to new message. And inside the app, you can now see other gamers' profiles including location, reputation, tenure and of course their avatar; you can now choose to share your real name if you would like from the Xbox app too.

As we previously covered, there is a new Avatars app as well and you can check out our hands on with that app here.

Windows 10 will now also include the controller drivers for for the Xbox One controller which means you get plug and play functionality without the need to download drivers.
