Microsoft is adding support for users to join Teams meetings anonymously via its desktop app. The feature was spotted on the Microsoft 365 roadmap that hints towards a mid-October release, while it is currently under development.
To join a meeting anonymously, users had to previously use the web app version of Teams. However, with the feature coming to the Windows desktop client, this is bound to change. This will allow users to easily access and collaborate across multiple organizations with global teams.
Microsoft explains how the feature rollout will take place on its roadmap:
We will be enabling this in three phases. First, Commercial and GCC customers will be able to join meetings in GCC-High and DOD clouds. Next, we will enable GCC-High customers to join Commercial, GCC and DOD meetings. Then, we will enable DOD customers to join Commercial, GCC, and GCC-High meetings.
Microsoft has been making a lot of developments recently with its Microsoft 365 service. The company not only announced new improvements including a revamped version of all of its Office apps but also secured places that were abused in previous cyber attacks.
