Microsoft outlined its 2017 event line-up today, which includes its Build 2017 developer conference. The event will be held May 10-12 in Seattle, rather than its usual March-April in California.
The company also said that it will be renaming its Worldwide Partner Conference to Microsoft Inspire, and that will be held from July 9-13 in Washington D.C. The firm says that, "This new name reflects how Microsoft and our partner community inspire each other to innovate and deliver powerful new solutions to customers."
Finally, Microsoft Envision will be folded into Ignite, which we already know will be in Orlando, Florida, from September 25-29. Of course, these are just Microsoft's major events, as there will be product launches scattered throughout the year as well.
Of course, Build is a conference that many look forward to, including non-developers. After all, it's where Microsoft will talk about what's next for its platforms.
As for what the company might announce at the event, you can expect quite a bit. The blog post made a point of saying that Seattle is the "cloud city", so in case you weren't already expecting it, there should be some announcements regarding Azure and the Microsoft Cloud.
There's also a strong possibility that we might hear about Redstone 3, which is to be the next feature update to Windows 10 after the Creators Update. After all, the Creators Update should arrive in March, so a couple months after that would be a great time to talk about what's next. It would also make a lot of sense that the event was scheduled in May instead of its normal timeframe.
