Microsoft will be virtually hosting its summer intern program for this year

Given the COVID-19 pandemic, almost every single in-person event in the last couple of months has been canceled. After confirming that all Microsoft conferences will be digital-only through July 2021, Microsoft further announced today that it will also be shifting its summer intern program for this year online.

According to the Redmond giant, this year's intern intake numbered at around 4,000 and was set to be the largest and most diverse group of individuals in the program's history.

For the virtual program, with tools like Microsoft Teams and Dynamics 365, the Redmond giant will be setting up a virtual environment that will "provide a rewarding professional development opportunity as well as meaningful connections" for the interns.

"While this experience is not what anyone expected, we’re embracing this opportunity together with our interns to learn from one another and grow," Microsoft wrote. For this, the program team will soon start hosting remote events that focus on networking, learning, and empowerment via interaction with teams and senior leaders across the company.
