Microsoft's most ambitious cross platform service … tracks Santa

Microsoft has many platforms and when you bring them all together, incredible experiences can be delivered. While Microsoft works to unify its Windows products with ‘Threshold’, the company is about to track Santa in what might be their most internal-collaborative product we have seen in a few years.

Yes, we do jest a bit about the collaborative part, but seriously, Microsoft has gone all out this year to track Santa. For the holiday season, the Internet Explorer team has redesigned the NORAD tracking page and made it touch friendly, Bing is powering the maps that will track the jolly-man, Skype is linked in to the page to enable a click-to-call to get live updates on Santa’s location and there are Windows and Windows Phone apps being released too. If that’s not enough, the service runs on Azure too.

The only consumer product not having deep ties to the platform is the Xbox One, but thanks to the built in web browser, you can pull up the site on your console too.

These fun little side projects help to bring a high-tech angle to the classic Santa Clause experience for children around the world. If you have children or are simply a fan of the big man on Christmas eve, the NORAD page at the source link below is worthy of checking out as we approach the holiday.
