Misfit Vapor X unboxing and first impressions

Announced a month ago, Misfit's Vapor X smartwatch includes Qualcomm's newest chipset for wearables, the Snapdragon Wear 3100. That unlocks new power management capabilities, such as the ability to have color on the ambient display, and a second-hand.

But that's not all that's special about this smartwatch. It weighs in at just 43g, including a stunning aluminum chasses. It's also 12mm thin, and it includes a 1.19-inch 328ppi AMOLED display.

Owned by Fossil, the Misfit brand is aimed at, well, misfits. This product was launched alongside of the 'Dare to be Different' campaign, highlighting those that just don't fit in, the round pegs in square holes, as both Misfit and Steve Jobs put it.

The only real downside to this beautiful new smartwatch is performance. It comes with only 512MB RAM and 4GB of storage, and I've been down this road before with the Fossil Sport. In fact, with the Gen 5 Smartwatch, I got to see just how much of a difference a full 1GB RAM would make. Still, I think that fashion is more important than performance in a smartwatch.
