Mojang cuts Realms price and offers free trial to new customers

Minecraft developer, Mojang, has kicked off the festive season with some sweet deals on the Minecraft Realms service.

Realms allows you to spin-up a Minecraft server in minutes. It is set to invite-only and can hold up to ten players at a time. It offers a variety of minigames that you can set-up with just a few clicks - and you'll be having fun in no time.

To begin with, Mojang is offering a free trial to all new Realms customers. This trial will grant you 30-days free use of the service. The catch? Well, there isn't one. You don't need to enter any credit card details nor personal information. Just sign-up and away you go.

Coupled with the free trial, Mojang is also throwing in a price drop. Normally 30-days of Realms would cost £8/€10/$13. However, with this price drop, you now only need to pay £6.99/€8.99/$9.99.

Here's a quick overview of the new prices, depending on the amount of time that you wish to purchase:

Amount of Time Cost
30 days £6.99/€8.99/$9.99
90 days £18.99/€23.99/$26.99
180 days £33.99/€42.99/$47.99

Along with those price drops - if you decide to set-up an auto-recurring subscription, you'll only need to pay £5.59/€7.19/$7.99 every 30 days.

If you were thinking about giving Realms try, now is definitely the time to do it.

For those of you who have already purchased time in advance, Mojang has you covered. It'll be granting you extra time, completely free, if you purchased your days recently. If you've purchased or added time to your Realms in the last 45 days, you'll be eligible for the extra time. Take a look at what you will be receiving:

Time Purchased Extra Free Days
30 days 15 days
90 days 45 days
180 days 90 days

Pre-paid cards will provide you with 10 days extra for free, too.
