Mozilla publishes Firefox Preview 4.0 with login management [Update]

Mozilla has published version 4 of Firefox Preview to GitHub introducing support for login management, top sites, and initial add-on support which we reported on previously. With login management, it will no longer be necessary to keep going back and forth to Mozilla’s Lockwise app to copy and paste your passwords into website login fields.

Over the last several months, Mozilla has been trying to bring Firefox Preview to feature parity with the existing Firefox app so that latter can be replaced. Firefox Preview is faster than the existing Firefox app because it’s powered by the newer GeckoView browser engine.

With Firefox Preview 4.0 you’ll be able to access your login details from within the browser, change the in-app language, see top sites on the new tab page, bypass certificate errors, and install uBlock Origin (more add-ons are coming soon). Additionally, this update fixes a persistent undo notification and several other bugs.

It’s unclear how long it’ll take for this update to arrive on the Google Play Store but the wait shouldn’t be very long. If you’d prefer, you can sideload the APK from the GitHub releases page but be sure to select the right build for your handset.

Update: The in-app language chooser was excluded from this update.
