Nintendo of America has today announced that more than a million GBA SP consoles have been sold in North America since the console's launch less than 10 weeks ago. To commemorate this success, Nintendo has also announced that it will release the console in two new colors on September 8. The two new colors will be flame (red) and the same onyx (black) model that has been available in the rest of the world since launch.

"In our industry, any product selling more than 1 million units is a certified megahit," said Peter MacDougall, executive vice president of sales and marketing for Nintendo of America. "For Game Boy Advance SP to outsell each of the home console systems is testament to the expanding popularity of gaming on the go."
