New OnePlus TV portfolio launched in India with affordable variants

OnePlus has announced the launch of two new smart TV series in India, the OnePlus TV U Series and the OnePlus TV Y Series.

OnePlus debuted in the smart TV market last year with the OnePlus TV Q1 series. The new series launched today aims to bring the same experience at a more affordable price point.

OnePlus TVs are powered by the Android TV 9.0 platform with a few additional OnePlus add-ons including Data Saver Plus to limit network bandwidth (coming soon to the Y Series), Kids Mode to allow parent monitor and manage the content their children view (not available on the Y Series), as well as the OnePlus Connect app to pair the TV with up to five devices at the same time to use as a remote. OnePlus Connect is available for both Android and iOS devices.

OnePlus TVs also sport the company’s content discovery platform – OxygenPlay. In addition, all the TVs allow you to control the smart TV with Google Assistant and are also compatible with Chromecast and DLNA.

OnePlus TV U Series

The 55-inch OnePlus TV U1 boasts of a thin aluminum chassis with a profile of just 6.9mm and a screen-to-body ratio of 95% for an almost bezel-less display. It comes with 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) resolution with an enhanced 93% DCI-P3 color gamut. It also packs in Dolby Vision, a cinematic technology that claims to offer superior visual details to transform the TV viewing experience.

For the audio, there’s a 30W speaker setup with two full-range speakers and two tweeters engaged in a down-firing design. This is powered by Dolby Atmos for a more cinematic sound experience.

OnePlus TV Y Series

The OnePlus TV Y Series comes in 43-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) and 32-inch HD (1366 x 768) variants. While these also cover 93% DCI-P3 color gamut, there’s no Dolby Vision support here. Both TVs offer a screen-to-body ratio of around 90%.

For the audio, there are two full-range speakers with total 20W output and Dolby Audio support.

While the OnePlus TV U1 is priced at ₹49,999 ($669), the Y Series is priced aggressively to compete with the likes of Xiaomi and Realme with a price of ₹22,999 ($308) for the 43-inch variant and ₹12,999 ($174) for the 32-inch variant.

Like all OnePlus products in India, the latest range of smart TVs will be available exclusively on Amazon.in along with OnePlus.in, the company's online store.
