Microsoft is planning on opening its eighth store in the next few months, directly across from an Apple store. The software giant is continuing its plan on moving into the retail store market, going head-to-head against its biggest rival, Apple.

According to Techflash.com, Microsoft is planning on opening its next store in Open-air University Village, located in Seattle. Microsoft recently opened a store in the same region, just a few miles from its headquarters in Redmond, which is located just a few miles from its next store. The space is currently occupied by Miller-Pollard, which is closing at the end of the month.

This store will join the growing fleet of stores across America, including The Bellevue Square (Seattle, Washington), Mall of America (Bloomington, Minnesota), Oakbrook Center (Oak Brook, Illinois), Fashion Valley Mall (San Diego, California), Park Meadows Mall (Lone Tree, Colorado), The Shops at Mission Viejo (Mission Viejo, California) and Scottsdale Fashion Square (Scottsdale, Arizona).

The Microsoft Store features all of the software giants hardware and software, including Windows 7, Office 2010, Xbox 360, Kinect and a wide range of other products.

Microsoft is making a big presence with its chain of retail stores, cashing in on the market that brings Apple so much success.
