Nintendo offers up a four-hour play session with new Splatoon 2 demo

Nintendo has done quite a bit over the past few months to drum up excitement for its upcoming title, Splatoon 2. The firm has offered multiple play sessions of the title for free and although the game will finally make its way to retail at the end of next week, it looks like there is one last demo event that is being held today.

If you are interested in playing, you'll want to head to the Nintendo eShop and download the Splatoon 2: Splatfest World Premiere demo to get in on the action that will take place from 3pm PT to 7pm PT. For this event, you'll get to choose your side and battle it out with friends or just party up with strangers. While it does seem a bit strange to choose your side based on your dessert preference, the important thing is that players will get a full four hours of game time to get either reacquainted or simply enjoy it for the first time.

"Cake...versus ice cream—a battle for the ages! Choose your side and fight to prove its delectable dominance in the Splatoon™ 2: Splatfest World Premiere demo event! Download the free demo and do battle for your team on Saturday, 7/15 from 3 p.m.—7 p.m. PT. Don't miss this sweet sneak-peek before the full Splatoon™ 2 game arrives on 7/21!"

As the demo description explains, Splatoon 2 will be arriving on the Nintendo Switch in its full form on July 21. Along with the game, Nintendo will also offer a few new amiibo characters, along with a Pro Wireless Controller that is themed in the colors of the game with bright green and pink handles.
