Nintendo to release Eevee & Pikachu edition of the Switch alongside the new Pokémon games

Nintendo is no stranger to releasing special editions of its consoles based on its franchises, especially when it comes to portable devices. The Switch hybrid console has notably not followed that trend so far, but that's about to change with the upcoming release of Pokémon Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!

The company today announced a special edition bundle which will include a copy of your preferred version of the game, the Poké Ball Plus accessory, and a themed console featuring the stars of the two games (via GoNintendo). In addition to the console and dock showcasing the two creatures, the Joy-Con controllers themselves are also colored accordingly, making it an even more unique device. Each of the bundles runs for $399.99, according to Nintendo's website, but the page suggests that you check with your local retailer for availability.

If you've been waiting for more news about the games themselves, there are also two new trailers for the titles (via Serebii). One of them revolves around interacting with your partner Pokémon, changing their haircut or just playing with them, but it doesn't reveal a whole lot that's new. The more interesting trailer, which you can see below, showcases some interesting changes to the mechanics.

In Pokémon Let's Go, your partner Pokémon will be able to use special moves outside of battle, which don't actually take up slots for moves that can be used in battles. These moves will allow players to cut down trees that are blocking a path or fly to previously visited locations to save time. In addition, both Pikachu and Eevee will be able to learn all-new battle moves in these titles.

Pokémon Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!, are slated for release on November 16 exclusively on the Nintendo Switch. If you'd like to pre-order the titles, you can choose your preferred version and retailer from the game's official website.
