Nokia Maps gets updated to version 3.0 for Lumia devices

With AT&T's announcement today that they will start selling the Nokia Lumia 920 and 820 smartphones in the US on Friday, you can expect Nokia to start opening up the floodgates in promoting the new Windows Phone 8 devices. Today, the company announced that it has launched a new version of its Nokia Maps app for Windows Phone, made especially for its Lumia Windows Phone 8 devices (at the moment, Nokia Maps 3.0 does not support the older Lumia Windows Phone 7.5 products).

Nokia has also posted up a new video on YouTube which shows off some of the new features in Nokia Maps 3.0. They include true offline support for maps, along with support for showing detailed walking directions, indoor venue maps for certain locations and more.

While not promoted by Nokia on its official blog, WPCentral.com has posted word that the Nokia Transport app, which helps navigate through bus, subway and other public transportation systems, has also received a major update this week. Besides some performance and stability improvements, the new app has some improved UI features. They include a new bottom bar which allows the user to have a better look at each part of their route.
