nubia's recent flagships have taken an interesting approach to the pursuit of a bezel-less screen. Instead of trying to find nifty ways of making the front camera real estate smaller - or trying to hide it under the screen - nubia would rather slap a second screen on its phones and let you use the main camera to take selfies.
Its newest flagship, the Z20, does exactly that, sporting two crisp AMOLED panels: there's a 6.42-inch FHD+ (2340 x 1080) screen at the front and a 5.1-inch display at the back. The front panel is also curved at the edges, just like Samsung's top-end devices.
Right above that second screen are the Z20's three cameras, laid out horizontally. The main shooter is a 48MP sensor from Sony, while the other two comprise of a 16MP ultra-wide sensor and an 8MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. There are also two LEDs at each side of the camera setup, which is capable of shooting video at up to 8K, albeit at a frame rate of only 15 frames per second.
Staying true to its extravagant pedigree, nubia splurged on not just two screens but also two fingerprint sensors on each side of the device, so you can unlock the phone in the same way regardless of which side you're using. Unfortunately, they're not under-screen and side-mounted sensors may not be everyone's cup of tea.
In terms of internals, the phone is also as opulent as you'd want from a flagship, with a Snapdragon 855+, a choice of 6 or 8GB of RAM, and 128 or 512GB of storage. The Z20 is powered by a 4,000mAh battery and supports Quick Charge 4.0, with up to 27W fast charging.
nubia will sell the device starting at CNY 3,499 (~$500) for the 6GB/128GB model, while the most expensive configuration (8GB/512GB) will run you CNY 4,199 (~$600). It's available in Diamond Black, Koi Red and Starry Blue.
