At CES today, Nvidia announced G-Sync esports displays, monitors that will have a refresh rate of 360Hz. While that might seem like overkill to some, there's a reason that these are going to be branded as for esports. The split-second difference could mean a win or a loss.
Even some esport players said that they thought they wouldn't see a difference coming from 240Hz, but were surprised when they switched back and forth between the two.
The first of these new esports displays is made by ASUS, with the ROG Swift 360. The product is a 24.5-inch monitor with a 1080p resolution, and Nvidia says that game frames are displayed once every 2.8ms, which is six times faster than that of regular gaming displays or TVs..
G-Sync esports displays have minimal ghosting, with custom tuned dynamic overdrive, and Nvidia says that it uses an advanced G-Sync processor. With 360Hz, the company says that there will be a 37% improvement over 240Hz, so you could see a real difference in your gameplay.
Nvidia didn't announce pricing or availability of the ASUS ROG Swift 360, but ASUS will likely announce it soon.
