Nvidia releases 416.34 WHQL driver, optimizing Black Ops 4, SOULCALIBUR VI, and GRIP

It's been two weeks since the last WHQL-certified driver release from Nvidia, if we don't count the odd Windows 10-exclusive release last week. So, of course, it's time for another update.

Nvidia today released its GeForce Game Ready WHQL-certified 416.34 drivers, bringing optimizations for the much-anticipated Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 as well as SOULCALIBUR VI, and GRIP.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is available to play already, so if you are hopping in with the early crowd, these drivers should perhaps help you gain a few frames per second. SOULCALIBUR VI has a release date of October 19, meanwhile GRIP will be leaving its early access tag behind on November 6.

There isn't much else new with this update, barring a few bug fixes:

  • Games launch to a black screen when DSR is enabled. [2411501]
  • Some games produce red/green/blue shimmering line when played in full-screen mode and with G-SYNC enabled. [2041443]
  • [Windows Defender Application Guard][vGPU][Surround]: Surround cannot be enabled from the NVIDIA Control Panel when running Edge Browser with Application Guard over vGPU. [200444614]
  • [PUBG]: Issue with shadows may occur in the game. [2414749]
  • When HDR is enabled, games show green corruption. [2400448]

A few known issues also accompany, some of which come with a workaround, which we have highlighted:

Windows 10 Issues

  • [Windows Defender Application Guard][vGPU][Surround]: Edge Browser with Application Guard cannot be opened when Surround is enabled. [200443580]
  • [GeForce GTX 1060]AV receiver switches to 2-channel stereo mode after 5 seconds of audio idle. [2204857]
  • [GeForce GTX 1080Ti]: Random DPC watchdog violation error when using multiple GPUs on motherboards with PLX chips. [2079538]
  • [SLI][HDR][Battlefield 1]: With HDR enabled, the display turns pink after changing the refresh rate from 144 Hz to 120 Hz using in-game settings. [200457196]
  • [Firefox]: Cursor shows brief corruption when hovering on certain links in Firefox. [2107201]
  • [Far Cry 5]: Flickering occurs in the game. [2400207]

Additional Issues

  • 2079538 - Random DPC watchdog violation error when using multiple GPUs on motherboards with LX chips
  • 2107201 - Cursor shows brief corruption when hovering on certain links in Firefox/Steam
  • 2246057 - Gears of War 4 may freeze/crash after extended period of gameplay
  • 2204857 - AVR switch to 2-channel stereo mode after 5 seconds of idle
  • 2400914 - Monster Hunter World flickers with grey/black bars with Volume Rendering off
  • 2400207 - Shadow flicker in Far Cry 5 after driver update
  • 200455193 - Flickering on textures in Witcher 3
  • 2418574 - Win7, Win8.1: G-sync not disengaging after exiting games
  • Custom color settings reset on reboot in Windows 10 FCU
  • Black screen on BenQ ZOWIE XL2730 when refresh rate set to 144Hz
    • Workaround: Recommend setting refresh rate to 120Hz due to off spec timing in EDID.
  • 2406118 - Higher DPC latency on PCI-E Gen2 motherboards

A very specific known issue with the GeForce Experience in-game overlay also exists, where if it is invoked with the Alt+Z keyboard shortcut in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 while it is in Windowed or Windowed [Fullscreen] mode, the game will freeze. There's a fix for this issue, but it's only available with the GeForce Experience BETA client, which is available here. Nvidia says this update will be pushed as stable next week.

There are no new or updated SLI profiles this time around. The 416.34 WHQL-certified drivers can be downloaded via the GeForce Experience app on Windows, or via the links down below. The complete release notes are available here.
