O2 network buckling under iPhone pressure once again [UK]

For the third time in 3 weeks the O2 data network was unavailable for many across the UK today.

Sporadic reports from Neowin's own members and those on Twitter suggest there was no connectivity to the data network for over 1 hour. The problem began on July 21 during which time users were unable to connect to the idata portion of O2's network. The issue occurred again last Tuesday and users began reporting problems again today.

O2 originally apologised for the network failure stating at the time: "from early afternoon yesterday, we suffered a fault with our data network. We have identified the cause of the fault, which relates to the allocation of IP addresses needed to establish a data connection."

It's not immediately clear what the fault was this time but users of O2's data network were affected. O2 representatives confirmed technicians were currently investigating the issue and stated "we're having a problem with our data network which will affect data services for some customers. We are working to fix this ASAP."

After the outage O2 confirmed "we've fixed our data network, you should now be able to access the internet again."

Updated: O2 data network is now back online.
