Obsidian Entertainment's The Outer Worlds launches on October 25

Obsidian Entertainment's upcoming RPG The Outer Worlds got a brand new trailer at Microsoft's Xbox E3 Briefing today, showcasing much more gameplay than what we saw at last year's announcement event. See the new E3 2019 trailer above.

We also finally know when the title is releasing, with the trailer confirming an October 25, 2019 launch date. For those unfamiliar with the game set at the end of the galaxy, here's how the studio describes it:

Lost in transit while on a colonist ship bound for the furthest edge of the galaxy, you awake decades later only to find yourself in the midst of a deep conspiracy threatening to destroy the Halcyon colony. As you explore the furthest reaches of space and encounter various factions, all vying for power, the character you decide to become will determine how this player-driven story unfolds. In the corporate equation for the colony, you are the unplanned variable.

Although Obsidian is now under Xbox Game Studios umbrella, the game isn't a Microsoft platform exclusive, as the Private Division is serving as its publisher. The game will be on the Xbox Game Pass at launch, however. The Outer Worlds is releasing on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 on October 25 later this year as previously mentioned. The PC version will be available through the Microsoft Store and the Epic Games Store.
