Office 365 subscribers will soon be able to install Office on unlimited devices

While Microsoft frequently announces big benefits for businesses that are using Office 365, you don't here as much about consumer features. Today though, the firm announced some major new benefits for those that pay for the subscription service.

Previously, Office 365 Personal users could only install Office on a single PC or Mac, and Home users could have up to 10 installs between five users. Now, all Office 365 subscribers can have unlimited installations of Office, although those installations will only be licensed to use for the amount that your subscription provides.

And that brings us to the next bit of news, which is that Office 365 Home will offer six licenses, instead of five. Each users also gets 1TB of OneDrive storage, so for $99.99 per year, you're not just getting Office, but a total of 6TB of OneDrive storage (1TB per user) as well.

Microsoft says that it will be tying Office 365 more deeply into Microsoft family services, meaning that your account will automatically be shared with those that you've set up as members of your family.

All of these changes will begin on October 2, which is the week after Microsoft's Ignite 2018 conference in Orlando.

Update: This article was updated to clarify that 6TB of OneDrive storage includes 1TB per user, rather than 6TB that the subscriber can divide up how they like.
