As the official announcement of the latest 'flagship killer' from OnePlus draws closer, we have learned a great deal about what the phone looks like and also about the technology powering it under the hood. Now, thanks to a Geekbench listing said to belong to the upcoming handset and a forum post by OnePlus, we know a little more about the phone's software, too.
The phone was put through Geekbench's suite of processor benchmarks earlier this week, and the listing for the results confirm what we know about the silicon inside the phone: it's powered by a Snapdragon 845. More importantly, the test also revealed that the OnePlus 6T was running on the latest release of Android.
In tandem with this news, we also learned a bit more about the OnePlus 6T's software chops thanks to an official forum post by the company's marketing department. The post teases the arrival of a 'whole new UI' with the next release of OxygenOS.
The changes may be quite sweeping in nature, it seems, as the post suggests you "will have to experience [it] for yourself to really understand." It also drummed up improved gesture-based navigation on the OnePlus 6T. The gestures have apparently been tested over 1,000 times each to ensure their reliability, and the company has made some significant progress in ensuring their fluidity. There's also a new gesture to easily switch between two recent apps by swiping toward the right end of the screen from the bottom.
Alongside these changes, we also know that the OnePlus 6T will feature a waterdrop notch on its screen. The screen will also include an in-display fingerprint and, sadly, the headphone jack has been removed from the company's latest flagship.
