OnePlus could be preparing a OnePlus X successor in 2018

OnePlus has been known for its fairly priced flagships the past couple of years, but back in 2015, it also had a second device priced much lower that was meant to appeal to those on a budget. The OnePlus X was a beautifully crafted handset but was discontinued after one release due to the company wanting to focus its efforts on a single product. A new rumor is hinting that the X line could be revived, with a new entry slated to arrive sometime in 2018.

According to sources from GizChina, if a new OnePlus X does arrive to market, it will have a 5.5-inch display, feature a Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB RAM, and will have either 32GB or 64GB of internal storage. The unit will also offer a 16MP rear camera, 8MP front-facing camera, and be powered by a 3,000mAh battery, with support for Dash Charging. The smartphone will also be able to unlock using facial recognition, much like the OnePlus 5T.

As for a release window, the GizChina sources are all over the place, with some stating that it could arrive after the launch of the OnePlus 6 or that it could arrive before it. As far as price goes, it could be anywhere around $230 to $264 USD. Naturally, we will have to wait to see if this happens but things have changed quite a bit since 2015, and offering cheaper solutions could end up becoming a very lucrative market for the firm.
