OPPO announced in China today the newest member of its Reno series sans the original version's shark fin pop-up selfie camera. The OPPO Reno Ace's main selling factor is its 4,000mAh battery that OPPO claims can charge from 0% to 100% within just 30 minutes (via GSMArena).
The phone's breakthrough fast charging technology is thanks to its 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 system. Compact in design, the GaN charger is also compatible with the USB-PD and Qualcomm’s Quick Charge standard.
Aside from the fast charger, the Reno Ace includes more flagship-level hardware specs. It is powered by a Snapdragon 855+ SoC paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.0 storage. For gamers, the handset's heat dissipation pipe will keep it cool while running intensive games.
Display-wise, the Reno Ace sports a 6.5-inch FHD+ AMOLED screen with a 90Hz refresh rate and a waterdrop notch, which houses the 16MP front camera. The device also has an under-display fingerprint scanner.
Round the back, it has a 48MP main camera with the Sony IMX586 sensor, complemented with a 13MP telephoto lens boasting 5x hybrid zoom, an 8MP ultrawide sensor, and a 2MP monochrome shooter.
The Reno Ace runs Android 10 with Oppo’s ColorOS 6.1 on top. It also includes a 3.5mm headphone jack, NFC, dual-firing speakers, and dual-frequency GPS.
It's available for pre-order via OPPO's Chinese online storefront. The 8/128GB configuration is priced at ¥2,999 (~$421), the 8/256GB variant at ¥3,199 (~$450), and the 12/256GB model at ¥3,799 (~$533). It will come in Psychedelic Purple and Starry Blue colors.
In addition, a limited 40th anniversary Gundam Edition Reno Ace also debuted today with either a red or blue accent, which you can see in action in the video below.
Availability and pricing for the special edition model will be unveiled in the future.
