Apple and Google both have software stores for their devices but Palm has just announced its own official on-device application store for both Windows Mobile and Palm OS powered handsets.
Palm's full catalog of applications comes courtesy of third party PocketGear. PocketGear, an app distributor, has published around 50,000 smartphone applications on its site.
With a new Palm OS expected to debut at CES in January, it seems Palm is getting back into the market in a big way.
The Software Store offers 5,000 apps & games and over 1,000 free apps to choose from. The mobile software store supports over 25 Palm devices, from the Centro to the Treo Pro.
It was recently revealed that both RIM and Microsoft are working on application stores for both their operating systems. Steve Ballmer revealed the news at a conference in Sydney last month. RIM is set to debut an application store with it's 4.7 software.
