Plants vs Zombies now available for Windows Phone

Avid fans of tower defense games may be excited that Plants vs Zombies, has now been released on the Windows Phone marketplace. The release of the game comes as the six week promotion to release large scale mobile games, enters its penultimate week.

Plants vs Zombies focuses on protecting a house from countless waves of zombies by using a variety of exotic plants to wipe them out. In fact, the total amount of plants eventually available to the player is 49, with 50 adventure modes and 19 unlockable mini-games. So all in all, there's a lot of content to keep even the most demanding gamer happy for several hours.

The game is available for purchase on the marketplace for $4.99 (£3.99) and a free trial is available for those that are uncertain. The app has been released under the Xbox Live brand, which is usually reserved for the highest quality on the marketplace. The game, which was created by PopCap, is available on a variety of other platforms including the Xbox 360 and Windows.

It has taken a large amount of time in relative terms, for game developers to port their creations over to the Windows Phone platform but things appear to be making ground. Last month we reported that Angry Birds was coming to Windows Phone 7 on June 29th, so in turn this will broaden the choice of popular games on the marketplace when compared with the iPhone and Android.
