PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds hits 570,000 concurrent players over the weekend

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is quite the success story with the game making its debut on Steam with Early Access starting on March 23, 2017. Since that time, over six million copies have been purchased and the title is headed to the Xbox One as a console exclusive.

While Xbox owners patiently wait for the arrival, PC gamers have been having a blast, with the game racking up a little over 570,000 players over the weekend. As a measure of how large this feat is, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, which is also quite popular and has been a fan favorite since 2012, amassed 624,000 players. Although PC players and console players won't have cross-platform play capability at the start, the feature has been discussed and could arrive at a later date.

Currently, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds does not have a firm release date for the PC or the Xbox One. While it was supposed to make its way out of Early Access in the next couple months, it appears the developer has stated that more time will be needed, with hopes that it will arrive in Q4 2017. If curious, you can start playing the game on PC via Steam. The title can be purchased for $29.99.
