Nintendo Switch players will soon be able to think with portals. During the latest Nintendo Direct showcase today, the company announced the mega-hit Valve franchise Portal is coming to its handheld.
Titled the Portal: Companion Collection, this is a bundle containing both the original Portal from 2007 and Portal 2 from 2011. Both games were multiplatform releases back in the day coming to both PC and consoles, though not to any Nintendo device, until now.
Aside from the two single-player campaigns, the complete cooperative experience from Portal 2 is also included here, which will be playable in split-screen, local, and online. From the footage seen in the trailer, it does not look as though any graphics upgrades or enhancements have been done to the duo. Though there may be useful elements like gyro aiming included to make the portal deployment more accurate.
Valve also doesn't seem to be the main developer behind the port, with Nvidia Lightspeed Studios' logo being seen at the end of the trailer. This is the studio behind the remastered classic Quake II RTX, and has also ported Half-Life 2 to the Nvidia Shield.
Portal: Companion Collection does not have a release date attached to it yet, with the trailer only revealing a 2022 launch window, so we should expect to get more details later. We may even see other classics from Valve's hit collection reach the handheld console in the coming years.
