Prey free trial announced for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4

Bethesda announced a free trial for its 2016 stealth action game Dishonored 2 earlier this year, and that may have been a success, as now, the same treatment is being applied to Prey.

Prey already received an Xbox One and PlayStation 4 exclusive demo prior to its launch, giving players a chance to play through the game's first hour. Bethesda is now turning this demo into a trial, while also inviting PC players to take part this time. Just as before, the trial will give players a chance to experience the game's first hour of gameplay.

Those who are unfamiliar with this Arkane Studios developed science fiction shooter can read its synopsis provided by the publisher below:

In Prey, you awaken aboard Talos I, a space station orbiting the moon in the year 2032. You are the key subject of an experiment meant to alter humanity forever – but things have gone terribly wrong. The space station has been overrun by hostile aliens and you are now being hunted. As you dig into the dark secrets of Talos I and your own past, you must survive using the tools found on the station, your wits, weapons, and mind-bending abilities.

The transition from demo to a trial is an important one, as unlike before, anyone who purchases the game after partaking in the trial will now get to keep their progress when they switch to the full game, as well as keep any achievements they may have earned.

The Prey free trial will be available later today on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 via their respective stores.
