Rage 2 release date reveal comes with another over-the-top trailer

Bethesda unveiled Rage 2 earlier this year with a trailer that painted a very different picture compared to the original game, and today during The Game Awards, the upcoming sequel's official release date was finally revealed with another pretty outrageous trailer, seen above.

Rage 2 will roll out on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 on May 14, 2019.

We get a good look at the game's massive open world in the new trailer, featuring various biomes, factions, and long stretches of deserts where Avalanche Studios' vehicular combat can shine. Remember that id Software is also co-developing the title, so we can expect some great gunplay as well.

Those who pre-order Rage 2 will get access to the "Cult of the Death God" bonus mission that involves a crazed mutant faction who worships the image of the original Rage's protagonist. Some bonus items also come with the pre-order.

The PC version's pre-order is only available via the Bethesda Store currently, which could mean the game could follow in the footsteps of Fallout 76 and skip a Steam release.
