Rumor: Samsung Galaxy S III coming in February?

The first two versions of the Galaxy S smartphones from Samsung have been huge hits for the company, selling tens of millions of units worldwide. Now a new rumor claims that Samsung is close to launching the third version of the Galaxy S with plans to announce the smartphone sometime in February.

PCWorld.com reports that a Korean-based web site claims to have info about the hardware inside the Galaxy S III and it does sound impressive. The site says the smartphone will run Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), and it will also have a quad-core processor, 2 GB of RAM, a 12 megapixel camera, and a large Super AMOLED Plus HD display with a resolution of 1280x720. There's no word on what the actual screen size of the smartphone, in terms of inches, will be like.

Pocketnow.com claims to have a picture taken from the Samsung Galaxy S III, although the picture's quality has been reduced down to just five megapixels.

The article points out that even if the Samsung Galaxy S III is officially announced in February it may take a while for the phone itself to make it to the US. In 2011, Samsung launched the Galaxy S II smartphone in other parts of the world in May before it made its US debut, with some minor hardware changes, in September.
