RuneScape passes 100,000 subscribers

Browser based MMORPG achieves 101,184 subscribers today.

11th August, Cambridge, UK. Jagex, the developer and operator of the 3D Java online adventure game RuneScape today announces that it now has more than 100k subscribers.

'Passing 100k subscribers is a fantastic achievement. We are incredibly thrilled that all the hard work we put into rewriting the game to work with the new engine is paying off.'says Managing Director, Constant Tedder. 'The new version gives players a 3D browser based experience they can't get anywhere else. RuneScape is a full MMORPG with hundreds of hours of gameplay, with new content releases every fortnight and subscription costing just $5/month'

RuneScape was launched a subscription based game in February 2002. In March 2004 RuneScape '2' was launched and all existing players were able to transfer their accounts. The new version gives players an improved playing environment with better animations, graphics, sound and player console as well as improved game play. RuneScape can be played for free unlimited at www.runescape.com. Players can subscribe at any point for $5/month to gain access to a whole host of benefits including a map that is three times as big, over twice as many quests, whole new skills and priority customer support.
