Back in June, Samsung introduced the sequel to its Chromebook Plus convertible, with a 360-degree hinge for the display as well as pen support. Now, the device is getting a new variant that adds LTE support, allowing for always-on connectivity without the need for Wi-Fi.
The company didn't really detail the specs ofthe LTE variant so, presumably, it retains the same components as what's found on the model released earlier this year. That means the device will have a Full HD (1920 by 1080p) 12.2-inch display, 4GB of RAM, and 32GB of internal storage. As far as processing power goes, an Intel Celeron 3965Y drives the convertible.
When it announced the Chromebook Plus V2, Samsung said it was "designed for people who never stop moving", and the addition of LTE reiterates that statement. Today, the company said:
"With the Samsung Chromebook Plus V2 (LTE), we’re bringing to market a premium device at an affordable price. Fittingly, it’s one that will help consumers do things they weren’t able to do before—to connect their primary devices, such as Chromebooks, wherever and whenever."
The 'affordable price' mentioned above is $599, a $100 increase over the Wi-Fi model, which puts it a step above some other devices powered by Google's Chrome OS. It'll be available through Samsung's own website starting November 2, and willalso be sold by Best Buy and Verizon.
