Samsung begins rolling out May security update for Android to the Galaxy S7 edge

Last week, Samsung released the latest monthly Android security patches for its Galaxy S7 in several European markets. Now, the company has expanded availability of those patches to the Galaxy S7 edge (model number SM-G935FD).

Google made the May security update available three weeks ago, releasing it immediately for its supported Nexus and Pixel devices. In addition to fixes for dozens of vulnerabilities and other flaws in the Android OS, Samsung's version of the update includes additional fixes for issues specific to its Galaxy devices.

The update for the Galaxy S7 edge is around 213MB in size and has so far been spotted in India, but Samsung is likely to waste little time in making it available to the device in other markets in the coming days.

Samsung also began rolling out the May security patches to its Galaxy A5 (2017) in Europe a few days ago.
