Last month, a senior executive at Samsung Turkey revealed that the company was planning to release its Android 7.0 Nougat update for the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge by the end of February. Its Nougat rollout began for the successors to those devices in January, but almost a week into March, there's still no sign of the update for the S6 family.
But as SamMobile spotted, Samsung actually revealed last week that its Nougat update for the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge has been delayed. The company did not make a formal announcement, but responded to a customer enquiry on Twitter, which was previously overlooked amid the excitement of the Mobile World Congress.
As the tweet pointed out, Samsung said that it had delayed the update's release to "review its quality", but offered no further details. It added in another tweet that the update "will be made available at the earliest opportunity".
It's still unclear when the company intends to begin the Nougat rollout for the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge. In the last 24 hours, Samsung has continued to advise customers on Twitter that it's "unable to confirm when this update will reach you" - so for now, the wait continues.
Android 7.0 Nougat was originally released by Google over six months ago, and since then, it has also rolled out Android 7.1.1, along with a beta of Android 7.1.2.
