Samsung joins Apple in announcing gold colored Galaxy S4

Gold is apparently the new black, at least in terms of smartphone colors. It certainly has worked for Apple, which generated tons of press when rumors began in August that it would offer the iPhone 5s in a gold color. Apple later confirmed those reports when it officially announced the phone earlier this month and it appears that the gold version has seen the most demand among the three 5s models since it went on sale last week.

Now it appears that Samsung wants to join the gold trend. In a post on the Samsung Gulf Facebook page, it has revealed new Gold Edition versions of its Galaxy S4 smartphone:

The phones are being targeted at the Middle Eastern market, but so far there's no indication that Samsung plans to offer the Gold Edition models elsewhere. However, we suspect that if the gold version of the iPhone 5s continues to sell well, we will see more smartphone companies joining the trend. Just remember, "Gold is Best."
