Samsung's next Galaxy S handsets could offer larger displays than their predecessors

S7 edge

There is a lot of pressure on Samsung to deliver next year since the failure of its Galaxy Note7. Although we are still several months away from the release of the company's next handset, the S8, rumors are swirling that the device could omit its iconic home button and use that newly available real estate to expand the display with a truly bezel-less design.

Although the bezel-less rumor is nothing new, it seems as though Samsung could also be expanding the screen size of each handset. According to the Korean Times, the S8 will launch with two models and might offer consumers a choice between a 5.7-inch or 6.2-inch model. This seems like a logical move as last year's S7 edge offered a 5.5-inch display but the footprint of the phone was much smaller than expected.

At this point, these are just rumors, but it would seem like Samsung is trying to push the envelope with its next offering. While the physical aspect of the device is important, Samsung is also expanding its software offerings a bit further with its rumored AI digital assistant. As stated before, we are still several months away from the release, which should see the handset evolve with features that may not ultimately make it into the consumer release.
