A new joint venture plans an abundance of re-releases.
Sega of Japan yesterday announced the formation of a new joint venture with D3 Publisher, the Japanese company responsible for the popular Simple 1500 and Simple 2000 series of budget software for PlayStation and PlayStation 2.
The new company, 3D Ages, owned in nearly equal parts by the Sega and D3P (although Sega holds a 51% controlling interest) plans to re-release games in the existing Sega software library as low-price titles for PlayStation 2, and release some of D3P's Simple 2000 games overseas (i.e., in the United States and Europe).
While Sega's announcement did not indicate what titles or franchises would make up 3D Ages' software lineup, the first title is to be released in the spring of 2003, and about 15 more games are to be released in total through the rest of the year.
