Shadow of the Tomb Raider leak reveal September release, announcement tomorrow

The Tomb Raider game series' official website has been updated to show a time and a date, specifically tomorrow, March 15 6am PDT, which is to be the announcement of the new Shadow of the Tomb Raider game. However, a Twitter user found out that the website's source code included details on what is likely to be revealed tomorrow.

According to the site's innards, Shadow of the Tomb Raider will launch on September 14, and comes with the tagline, "Shadow of The Tomb Raider is the climatic [sic] finale of Lara's origin story." The listed platforms are PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4, and unlike the previous game where the Xbox One got first dibs, there are no mentions of any exclusivity periods in the code.

The leak also suggests that following tomorrow's announcement, Square Enix is planning to do a full reveal of the game next month, on April 27. Expect to see more information surface when the website goes live with its plans tomorrow.

The news of a new Tomb Raider game's arrival this year isn't unexpected, as Square Enix confirmed a 2018 release for a new title in a late last year. Hinting at the name, that announcement spelled out the word 'SHADOW' when the first letter of each sentence was combined.
