Owners of the iPhone and iPad now have a new version of Skype to download. The highly popular Internet voice and video chat service, owned by Microsoft, has added a new feature that will allow its users to also share photos.
In a post on the official Skype blog, it states that iPhone and iPad users can now take photos with those products and then share them directly with their Skype contacts. The new feature has no file limits either, which should help for those people who don't want to email a large image file.
In addition to the new photo sharing feature, the new iOS version of Skype has added some performance improvements. The blog says:
We've made them less battery hungry when running in the background, so you'll now be able to answer Skype calls throughout the day when they come in. And, as you'll be able to keep Skype open, you can respond to or send IMs to friends and colleagues all day long. In addition, we've tried to make the app start and contact list load even faster, so you can do all the things you love to do with Skype more quickly.
Skype has been in the news lately thanks to newly leaked information of the upcoming Windows 8 "Modern" UI version of the software.
