Skype rolls out Spotify integration to Insiders in the US

The Skype team is rolling out yet another new feature to Skype Insiders, this time in the form of a Spotify integration. The feature is only available to those in the United States for now, but the company says it will reach people around the world very soon.

Starting with version 8.26 of the Skype app, users will be able to access the Spotify Add-In from the menu in a chat. From there, they can search for songs, albums or artists, preview and share music, and even play music in Spotify itself.

Microsoft and Spotify have had a good relationship as of late, with the former recommending that users switch to the streaming service after it killed off Groove Music last year. Spotify is also one of the few services to have published its Win32 app on the Microsoft Store using the tools provided by the Redmond company.

While many features have been added to the "modern" version of Skype, Microsoft was recently forced to hold off killing previous versions of the app because of backlash from users. The service has also been known to be somewhat unreliable when it comes to delivering messages, which may leave some wondering if the company's priorities are in the right place.
